Transforming EPC Aris Markup Language into BPMN Metadata

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceeding › Conference contribution › peer-review

Abstract

Due to the popularity of BPMN in business process modeling, it requires enterprises to transform their existing business processes represented in different languages, e.g., EPC, to keep their competitiveness. There, however, exists a challenge in transforming EPC AML into BPMN metadata in an automatic manner. The existing transformation approaches focus on defining rules of high-level abstraction. In this study, the rules of EPC ARIS metadata transformation are presented using ARIS Mark-up Language to the proposed BPMN metadata. There are 7 transformation rules resulted from the improvement of the pre-existing transformation rules. We expect this transformation approach provides more complete rules such that EPC to BPMN model transformation can be automatically performed with less information loss.
