Abstract
This study examines the role of communication in technology adoption in Indonesian livestock agribusiness using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, literature was retrieved from Scopus and Web of Science, yielding 16 eligible studies after screening. Study quality was assessed using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP), with most studies showing low to moderate risk of bias. Data were synthesized thematically using a multi-dimensional communication framework encompassing informational, persuasive, social, participatory, digital, and institutional communication. The findings show that communication extends beyond information transfer, operating through cognitive, affective, social, and structural mechanisms. Informational and digital communication enhance knowledge and awareness, persuasive communication builds trust, while social and participatory communication promote interactive learning. Institutional communication supports coordination, resource access, and policy implementation. However, technology adoption is not an automatic outcome of communication, as it depends on contextual factors such as information relevance, trust, digital literacy, and institutional support. This review provides a mechanism-based understanding of communication in technology adoption and highlights the importance of integrated communication strategies and future research addressing contextual barriers and digital inequality.
