abstract = "One of many coating methods to produce a rough surface is using an Ultrasonic Atomization Spray Coating (UASC). At some extent, the UASC can be used to make a rougher surface of polystyrene coating on Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) sensor. However, several parameters are still needed to be explored to achieve the best coating condition. Based on our last research, the nozzle-to-specimen-distance has a significant impact on the growth of polystyrene structure on the QCM surface. However, there was a parameter that is no less important to take into account. In this work, the effect of the spray time variation of polystyrene towards the surface morphology of QCM has observed. In addition to the electrical impedance of the sensor after coating which was measured using an impedance analyzer, the surface morphology of the polystyrene coating was observed by using a Field Emission-Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM) and macroscopically observed using an optical microscope. The result showed that spray time affects the structure of the formed polystyrene coating on the sensor surface. It was related to the sprayed volume of the polystyrene solution which was atomized by the ultrasonic spray.",
