Abstract
This paper aims to determine the effect of industrial zones on road network performance. The research location is located in the North Malang industrial area which is in the center of Malang City, Indonesia. The first step is to study the existing conditions of industrial land use. The existing condition of the industrial area includes: type of industry, operational status and area of industrial companies. Furthermore, this study examines the characteristics of trips in the industrial area including trips of workers and goods of industrial companies. Analysis of road network performance using the CUBE tool. Evaluation of the influence of industrial areas on road performance is carried out by analyzing existing conditions and simulating conditions without industry. Based on the study of the existing characteristics of the industrial area, 43 industrial companies are still operating with the most influential type of industry is tobacco processing with a total building area of 21.65 Ha. The industrial zone accounts for 8594 worker and goods trips every day. 98% of industrial workers use motorcycles as a means of transportation. 55% of goods trips use light vehicles such as pick-ups / box cars and 40% use heavy vehicles. Based on the results of the analysis in conditions without industry, 7 road sections have a VCR>0.75 which indicates that the condition of the road traversed by industrial activities is in poor condition and requires handling. Various handling scenarios can be developed for further research including scenarios for relocating industrial areas involving ring roads and toll roads.
