The analysis of structural walls in house buildings on the mechanical performance of masonry

Research output: Contribution to journalConference articlepeer-review

Abstract

Related to the number of simple house buildings that were damaged during an earthquake. This study presents an analysis of building structures with confined walls in non-engineered houses. Where non-engineered structures are often found today are wall buildings with load-bearing wall systems. Walls in non-engineered houses function as bearing walls. The load of the house that must be borne by the walls is the load of the roof and the weight of the walls themselves. In this study, the simulation uses the finite element method to determine the displacement value and stress distribution in the masonry structure using the regulations of SNI 15-2094-2000, ACI 530-05/ASCE 5-05/TMS 402-0, and walls based on the conditions in the field. Finite element modeling in this simple house building is done using macro modeling techniques. The results of this analysis show that the largest displacement value is in buildings that use masonry, based on existing conditions in the field, namely Ux =-0.008 cm, Uy =-0.021 cm, and Uz =-0.008 cm. when it comes to stress In this analysis, it was found that the greatest stress value occurs in masonry that uses the ACI regulation, which is 1.33 kg/cm2. The presence of beams and columns on the masonry also causes tensile and compressive stresses. From this modeling, it can be seen the location of the area experiencing the maximum stress or critical stress so that the initial potential for the collapse of the house can be predicted and the worst damage is likely to occur in the house that uses walls based on field data variables.
