Technology acceptance analysis of mobile learning applications for Indonesian civil service examination preparation

This research investigates the acceptance of mobile learning applications for civil service exam preparation through an in-depth analysis of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Quantitative research was applied with descriptive statistical analysis of 248 Indonesian Civil Service Examination Preparation Mobile Application (ICSEPMA) users. Data were collected through a structured survey questionnaire to quantify five TAM variables: perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude towards using, behavioural intention, and actual system use. The findings show a high general acceptance rate of 89.89%, with perceived ease of use having the highest rate among individual measures at 91.26%. However, the research identifies critical areas requiring enhancement, particularly in behavioural intention to use (89.87%) and actual system use (86.89%). The results of this study reinforce the immediate need for greater user engagement. The contribution of this research to theoretical discourse on technology acceptance in educational contexts is that it demonstrates how complex the relationship of user perception to actual engagement. This study concludes that there are evidence-based recommendations to improve mobile learning application design and delivery, emphasising the incredible intuitiveness of the user interface and cognitive load management.
