Spinner machines development as an alternative for starting small, and medium enterprises

For snack food SMEs who are about to start their business, they need capital to run their business, such as a spinner machine that is useful for reducing the water content of raw materials or for draining oil after the frying process. Spinner machines available in the market using stainless steel have a high level of resistance but are expensive. Another alternative is cheap but has a small capacity and is easy to break because it is made of plastic. So it is necessary to develop a spinner machine that has high resistance, large capacity, and low price. The product development concept according to Ulrich and Eppinger consists of six phases, namely planning, concept development, system-level planning, detailed design, testing and improvement, and product launch. Based on the product development concept, the results show that the prototype is able to meet customer needs, namely a larger capacity than a plastic spinner machine, the use of the machine is effortless and the price is low, meaning that the machine can help SMEs to start a business with affordable capital.
