Abstract

The crop rotation system and soil processing before planting apparently still leaves a seed bank. Seed banks that have a short dormancy can develop into massive weeds and compete with crops. The two types of weed were Amaranthus spinosus and Eleusine indica. Chemical herbicides are often used to eradicate excessive weeds. The negative impacts caused include: death of non-target organisms and weed resistance. Using straw mulch can suppress weed populations. However, straw mulch has disadvantages, including: immobilization of N in the soil and hosting soil-borne diseases. The slow release of allelochemicals causes slow inhibition of weeds. Extracted straw can speed up the process of inhibiting weeds. The research was designed on a comprehensive plot plan (RPT) which was repeated 3 times. Approximately 5 concentrations of rice straw extract K1 (control) K2 (25%), K3 (50%), K4 (75%) and 100% and applied to A. spinosus (T1), E. indica (T2) and soybeans (T3) at the age of 24 HST. The aim is to determine the concentration of straw extract that inhibits the growth of each weed and soybean species. K5 treatment (100%) inhibited plant height, number and area of leaves, chlorophyll index and plant fresh weight.
