Overlay Analysis to Determine the Potential Location of The New TPS 3R in Pacet District, East Java

The study aims to evaluate the waste treatment and to determine the potentials sites for the new waste treatment management facilities in rural area. Commercial waste generated form tourist destinations is the focus of the study since most of the tourist attractions in Pacet District do not implement 3R. There are no on-site waste treatment facilities such as 3R-Temporary Disposal Sites (3R-TDS) should be the responsibility of each management of tourist destination in Mojokerto regency including in Pacet District. Currently, 3R-TDSs in Pacet District collect the domestic waste, biowaste from the traditional markets and one tourist attraction. Two approaches are used in the study which are the calculation of the waste treatment capacity of the 3R-TDSs and the spatial overlay analysis comprising of some variables such as land contour and availability, riparian buffer zone, road network, distance to settlements, and 3R-TDS coverage area. The results revealed that the current waste treatment capacity in 3R-TDSs is very low (4,11%%). Increasing the capacity can be achieved through 44 out of 76 potential sites.
