Malang historical tourism guide mobile application based on geolocation

Abstract

Malang is a tourism city that located in East Java - Indonesia. Malang is also a historic city that has many historical heritages such as heritage that exist since Royal until independence era. Historical tourism can grow more greatly if there are tour guide that can help the tourist to explain about the history of each historical tourism object. The heritage tour guide surely has deep knowledge about the history like a historian. However, in the fact, very difficult to find the one. This paper aims to build a historical tour guide application based on Android that built by using the Location-Based Service technology with geofencing feature. This application will trigger a notification when the user enters the geofence area, which this notification is an audio that explains about history that relevant with each historical object tourism in Malang. Based on experiment result, the accuracy rate that application have is 100% succeed to trigger the right information that appropriates with each area of historical tourism object. The estimate distance which the app will trigger the information is (+/-) 5 to 15 meters automatically.
