Implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (Gap) on Organic Certified Robusta Coffee: A Case Study in Banyuwangi Regency

Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) are one of the important factors for the sustainability of the coffee industry. Organic certification on coffee products is in the fourth position out of the five largest VSS in the world. The significantly increasing specialty coffee market has opened greater opportunities to certify the coffee produced through sustainable agricultural practices. This study aims to determine the level and factors that influence the implementation of GAP for Organic Robusta coffee. The research area was was purposely conducted in Gombengsari Village, Kalipuro District, Banyuwangi Regency. The purpose of the study was to determine the level of implementation and factors that influence the implementation of GAP. The population of the study was the Kopi Rejo Farmer Group consisting of 36 farmers. The samples were determined from 30 farmers. The level of GAP implementation was measured using descriptive analysis. Factors that influence the implementation of GAP was measured using Spearman's Rank Correlation Analysis. The results showed that 57% of farmers were in the moderate category and 43% of farmers were in the highest category. While the land area, education, number of family members, and number of livestock did not have a significant correlation, other factors like age, experience, soil fertility and water sources were correlated significantly with the implementation of GAP.
