Abstract

Background: Family involvement in the Intensive Cardiovascular Care Unit (ICCU) is still controversial as it is a room with a high level of care. The policies of each hospital on this matter vary. Objective: The purpose of this study is to explore the experience of the nurses on family involvement in the care of patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) at the ICCU. Method: This study is descriptive qualitative research with 24 participants (nurses) who have experience working in ICCU at least 1 year. Results: This study results in finding of two themes: making a work environment crowded and interfering with the nursing activities. Conclusions: Therefore, it is necessary to prepare a manual of family involvement procedures in the care of ACS patients in ICCU so as not to interrupt the treatment process.
