Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceeding › Chapter › peer-review

Abstract

Mount Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park is a mountain tourist attraction located in East Java. Mount Bromo is located in the national park, namely Bromo Tengger National Park (TNBTS). The remarkable thing about Mount Bromo is its unique tourist attractions, which are different from other mountain tours in Indonesia. Unlike other mountain destinations, Bromo offers a variety of activities, such as horse and jeep riding, and visitors can enjoy the beauty of white sand. This book chapter aims to identify and analyze the condition of Mount Bromo tourism when COVID-19 hit Indonesia and its impact on the communities around Mount Bromo. The researchers used a descriptive statistical approach and literature study to find out and analyze the condition of Mount Bromo tourism when the COVID-19 condition hit Indonesia and its impact on the communities around Mount Bromo. Descriptive statistics were obtained by comparison of the number of tourists before and during the COVID-19 pandemic and literature studies through books and journals that support statements about a sustainable building environment through ecotourism villages. The results of the study show that there has been a decrease in the number of local and international tourists visiting Mount Bromo. To overcome this decrease in the number of tourists, the government is preparing a strategy by approving domestic tourism and ecotourism as tourism activities that get approval to reactivate in the post-COVID era by implementing health protocols in tourist spots and limiting the number of visiting tourists. With solutions from the government and the tourism sector, it is hoped that tourists will still be able to visit Mount Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park and improve the economy, society, and politics of the surrounding community, districts, and the country.
