Abstract
The increase in population has the effect of increasing the amount of waste generated. Pangkalan Kerinci Timur generates 30.192 kg/day of waste. However, the waste officers can collect only 70% of the waste produced. Pangkalan Kerinci Timur has a direct individual collection system. Waste generated by the community will be taken directly by dump truck to the landfill. The condition of some settlement patterns located on narrow roads or alleys, causes the collection system to experience obstacles because dump trucks cannot reach the sources of waste. The waste that is not transported is often burned by the community to avoid accumulation. In addition, waste collection has an irregular schedule. The irregularity of waste collection is due to the lack of a waste collection fleet. This research was conducted to analyze the waste collection system's effectiveness, determine the waste collection system's pattern, determine the time of the waste collection route, and determine the need for collection vehicles. The results of the effectiveness calculation show that the percentage level of service of the collection system is 71%. This level of service is the basis for determining the appropriate waste collection pattern, adding new collection routes, determining collection times, and the need for collection vehicles. Based on the overlay results, the collection system patterns that can be applied are direct individual and communal collection patterns. From the overlay results, adding new routes resulted in 3 (three) routes, with the need for collection vehicles increasing by 3 (three) units from the existing.
