N2 - Preeclampsia is characterized by the onset of hypertension and proteinuria. The leading cause of preeclampsia is not yet known with certainty. Still, several processes, including oxidative stress and endothelial dysfunction, contribute to the development of the disease. NO is a potent vasodilator and relaxant of vascular smooth muscle. SOD is a first-line antioxidant as a defense against ROS. Pravastatin is known to have a pleiotropic effect as an antioxidant and as an agent to increase NO. This study aims to determine the effect of pravastatin on serum levels of NO and SOD in the a preeclampsia rat model. This study consisted of 5 groups; negative control, positive control (rat model of preeclampsia induced by administration of L-NAME at a dose of 125 mg/kg BW/day since gestational age 13-19 days), treatment groups 1, 2, and 3 (rat model of preeclampsia given pravastatin with 3 doses different, 2 mg/day, 4 mg/day and 8 mg/day) at 13-19 days of gestation. The results showed an increase in serum levels of NO (p=0.041) and SOD (p=0.024). Administration of pravastatin can increase serum levels of NO and SOD on the preeclampsia rat model.
