Dry connections behavior of waste onyx modified concrete wall panels

Research output: Contribution to journalConference articlepeer-review

Abstract

This article discusses the modified waste onyx reinforced concrete wall panels and the method of assembling the wall panels to form a reliable load distribution system. The assembly method is proposed using the dry bolt connection method of the vertical type on assemblies of onyx waste modified concrete wall panels, which have height, width, and thickness dimensions, respectively, of 80 cm, 40 cm, and 6 cm. The initial design includes a BJ 37 steel plate with a thickness of 3mm and high strength bolts of 8.8 has been carried out based on the analysis of the forces that occur. Then, observations were made on the mechanical behavior of reinforced onyx concrete wall panels under static in-plane lateral loads with various high-strength bolt diameter parameters, namely M6, M8, and M10. The experimental test results show that the panel with an M10 bolted connection has the highest stiffness value. In contrast, the panel with an M6 bolted connection has the highest ductility value. It was validated by numerical simulation. The results obtained were similar between experimental and numerical simulations. This shows that the increase in the bolt's dimensions will increase the stiffness value and decrease the ductility value.
