Abstract
Supplier selection is a crucial aspect in the construction industry that affects the overall success of a project. This paper develops an efficient supplier selection model using Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approaches such as Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). This study aims to identify relevant criteria in supplier selection, determine the weight of each criterion, and rank the available suppliers. Data were collected through a literature review and feedback from 30 industry experts with more than 10 years of experience. The criteria used include project quality, management capability, price, technical expertise, past experience and performance, reputation, equipment capability, contractor relationship, and current workload. The calculation results show that the AHP and TOPSIS approaches are effective in generating supplier priorities that are in accordance with field conditions. The implementation of this method also considers suitability, simplicity, and adaptability, ensuring that the developed model can be applied in various construction projects. This paper provides practical recommendations for the construction industry to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the supplier selection process, reduce risks, and improve overall project quality and performance. This study also identifies the gaps that still exist in the literature and highlights the importance of a holistic approach in integrating supplier selection criteria. The developed model is expected to be able to adapt to market dynamics and technological developments, providing a more responsive and sustainable solution in supplier selection in the construction industry.
