Correlation between mean grayscale value of Sagittal T1-weighted MRI images and Gadolinium (Gd) contrast agent administration in the head

Abstract

Administration of Gadolinium (Gd) contrast agent in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures can cause changes in the signal of an image, so that normal and abnormal tissue in the image more clearly. This study aims to determine the correlation between Gd administration in sagittal T1-Weighted MRI image and signal intensity quantitatively indicated by grayscale values. The data used is secondary data with specifications for head MRI sagittal T1-Weighted images. Plots of abnormal tissue areas were performed on contrast and non-contrast Gd images. The grayscale value of each area was measured using ImageJ software. The results showed that the mean grayscale value in contrast and non-contrast Gd images increased.
